wheat poori

INGREDIENTS:

Wheat flour - 2 cups
Salt - 1 tsp (approx)
Water - as required
Oil - 1 tsp + for frying

Servings : 2 person

POINTS TO NOTE :

  • Golden rule to remember is "less water you use, less oil it consumes"
  • Use unrefined oil of your choice extracted in traditional way in country shops always. All edible oils our ancestors consumed in earlier days are healthy in some way including coconut and groundnut oils unless they are done so called 'refining'.
  • Always use wheat flour. avoid maida which is so unhealthy
  • Combine with healthy less oily potato poori masala or chutneys of your choice. Garlic chutney and coconut chutney goes well with it.
  • Keep your sides ready and Make the dough just 10 mins before, when it is time to eat.

METHOD:

  1. Add wheat flour, salt and 1 tsp oil in a bowl and mix well.
  2. Now add water little by little while kneading the flour into tough/ hard dough.
  3. Divide it into small balls.
  4. Use 2 drops of oil and spread it over the wooden board and now roll each balls into small sheets.
  5. You shall use chapathi press too.
  6. Heat the oil and fry the pooris as soon as possible. Serve it hot !

It consumes very less oil just like howmuch we use in dosa and chapathi. And that doesnot harm us. Of course, a balanced diet needs some fat too in right proportion :-)
